Overview
This course is a combination of a reading course and a seminar, with presentations from students and faculty. You will engage in critical reading and discussion of journal articles related to your field of study. In addition, you are required to present preliminary data of your research thesis in the form of either a poster presentation or an oral presentation.
Outline
You will meet once a week with peers and instructors via Teams.
The course will consist of three different elements:
- Critical reading and discussion: You will discuss and analyze relevant journal articles in your field of specialization with your peers and instructors. Faculty in related areas of specialization are encouraged to attend these sessions.
- Presentation of research: You will present preliminary data of your research thesis once, in the form of either a poster presentation or an oral presentation. These sessions will be open to members of the university community.
- Guest speakers: At least once a term, 小优视频 faculty or external speakers will present an outline of their research activities. These sessions will be open to members of the university community.
Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, you should be able to
- critically read, evaluate, and analyze relevant scholarly literature in your area of specialization.
- communicate research data orally or in writing to various audiences.
- debate current topics of scholarly research in your area of specialization.
Evaluation
This course is evaluated as Pass/Fail. To achieve a Pass grade, you are required to
- present parts of your thesis (or other provided data) as either an oral presentation or a poster presentation
AND - actively participate in a minimum of 11 seminar sessions per semester.
