Overview
MHST/NURS 720 Thesis II: Conducting, Writing and Dissemination of Research is the second thesis course. In this 12-month 12 credit course students will actively engage in the research process, write the thesis and be examined on the thesis.
If the requirements of MHST/NURS 720 are not completed by the end of the course, students will be permitted a continuation of up to 12 months in which to complete course requirements. A continuation fee equivalent to one course registration will apply.
Course Structure
MHST/NURS 720 is organized in a seminar-based format in which thesis students can participate in online discussions in a Moodle workspace about their research and the thesis process, with fellow students and their supervisory committees. As well, a private Moodle workspace is available for communication between each student and his/her supervisor.
MHST/NURS 720 is an asynchronous, paced online course. This means that there is no predetermined time when students must log in to complete course work.
Objectives
In order to achieve the goal of completing the thesis, students will:
- Obtain ethical approval to conduct thesis research, from the 小优视频 Research Ethics Board and any other appropriate approval bodies. Ethical approval must be obtained prior to data collection.
- Engage in data collection and analysis.
- Receive approval of the final thesis (that is, a “Pass” in adjudication of the thesis by a thesis examination committee).
- Receive a “Pass” on the oral thesis examination.
- Submit the approved thesis electronically to the thesis repository.
Evaluation
A final grade (pass/fail) for MHST/NURS 720 will be assigned after the approved thesis has been submitted to the thesis repository.
